1-0John. Roberts put a long ball out to Hulme, who beating Fairhurst, crossed it into the Newcastle penalty area. Both McInroy and Nelson tried to clear, but both failed, and it fell to John who had the easiest of chances.

1-1John Allen. The ball appeared to run out over the dead-ball line but Boyd scooped it back towards the penalty spot, the whole of the Arsenal defence had switched off, but not Allen who was left unguarded to plant a header beyond the disbelieving Moss.

1-2John Allen. Boyd and Allen combined again to seal the victory for Newcastle. A cross from Boyd was sent goal-bound by Allen, it looked like Roberts was going to clear it but his kick was mistimed and the ball went into the net.

Over The Line? Newcastle Win Cup Again!

This was the infamous "over the line" final..

With probably the most disputed goal in football history (at that time) Newcastle equalised and went on to subsequently win the FA Cup for the third time.
