0-1OG [Mbemba]. A cross was sent in from the right and Mbemba in the middle of the six-yard box stooped to head it clear but only headed it straight into the net with Sels standing helpless behind him. Serious lack of communication!

0-2helder Costa. Edwards played the ball to Costa just outside the box and he hit a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner.
Ivan Cavaleiro on for Joao Teixeira

Back Down To Earth!
So four day's after the high of scoring six at Loftus Road we are brought back down to earth with a thump. We all knew it had to end sometime, but not at St James's Park, not with an own own goal and not with a sending off, but that's what we got unfortunately. The great run of five successive clean sheets ended with an own goal, the great run of six successive victories ended too, a sad day indeed at St James's Park and only further saddened by the dismissal of Anita.
Apart from the red card for Anita there were eight yellow cards produced too, a testament to a rather "tetchy" rather than a "dirty" game, both sides not being afraid to go into the tackle, without being too physical, sometimes just pure rashness and frustration. The fact that the referee, Tim Robinson, had issued 34 yellow cards and a red in his eight games this season already may also have a lot to do with it. All-in-all though a very disappointing game for Newcastle considering they were coming into the game after demolishing QPR 6-0 and Wolves had not had a win in their last three games and were indeed embarrassed by Barnsley on Tuesday night when they conceded four in the last 17 minutes at Molinuex.
On the bright side we only have three days to wait to get our revenge as Wolves are back at St James's Park for a League Cup tie, hopefully we will see a much better performance and result from Newcastle.
