Andy came from Highland Park, now renamed Jomo Cosmos and was only the second South African to play for Newcastle, the first being the full-back Tony Whitson in the early 1900's.
Whilst Andy never made a start for Newcastle, just the three sub appearances, he was never on a losing team. His games were; 2-2 draw with Manchester United (11/03/1978) coming on as sub for Barrowclough; 1-1 draw with Birmingham (15/03/1978) as sub for Walker and the 5-3 win over Charlton (03/03/1979) substituting for Martin. All three of his appearances were at home and funnily enough all three were in the month of March!
Andy left for Peterborough but didn't make an impact there either and went to the Continent and then tried his luck in the States with Philadelphia Furies. Remaining "stateside" Andy eventually dropped out of football and according to sources at Newcastle (19/03/2006) was apparently working for a Porsche dealer in Orlando, Florida
